Shorin ryu is one of the major modern Okinawan martial arts, founded in the 19th century. This style combines elements of the traditional Okinawan fighting styles and is widely considered to be one of the two major modern styles of Okinawan karate.
Shorin ryu is generally characterized by natural breathing, strong stances, and direct, rather than circular movements.
At Savior Martial Arts®, we offer training and grading in Shorin ryu karate to our students who have reached the rank of Nidan in Chutoku Ryu Karate. Nidans and above are required to cross train in Shorin ryu to broaden their martial skill.
