The first two years of our custom written and produced Leadership Training and Development Program (LT) present a model of leadership for teens and young adults that includes both transactional and transformational leadership.
Transactional leadership focuses on the skills of leadership: public speaking, delegating authority, dealing with obstacles, time management, goal setting, spiritual disciplines, professional behavior, and supporting teammates.
- Transformational leadership focuses on the process of leadership and what it means to develop into a leader. It is concerned with the heart and mind of individuals and how they can properly and effectively use their abilities to influence people.
Using these two models, we intend to doubly equip our LT members with skills to do the work of leadership, adding to that a path toward inner growth and building character that fuels effective, godly leaders. The course consists of a weekly 45 minute class, homework, and on the mat assisting to apply the material.
We will provide LT students with guidance and opportunities to develop leadership and teaching skills through the information in the course and in-class application. Our goal is to equip our LT’s to be effective leaders in the dojo, and in their schools, churches, and jobs.
Our Leadership Training and Development Program is a three level program, requiring approximately one year to complete each level. Generally, Karate For Christ® students must be 15 years old before they can enroll in this course. Students who have shown remarkable maturity at 13 or 14 may be nominated by a Staff member to join in the next Introduction to Leadership, Level 1 class.
The Level 2 course continues into a more advanced understanding of the dual tranactional/transformational leadership model. Students who have completed both levels are well equipped to be firmly grounded, confident leaders, prepared to actively lead in the building of the Kingdom in their churches, communities, and jobs.
The Level 3 course is reserved for students who have expressed a desire to open a Karate For Christ® dojo. This course contains proprietary information along with a presentation of the business systems an Instructor will need to successfully run the dojo under the direction of the Hombu Dojo.
