submission grappling

two men grapplingCombining elements of traditional Judo, Japanese and Brazilian Jujitsu, and classic Greco-Roman wrestling, Chutoku Ryu Jujitsu/Submission Grappling (CRJSG) offers a highly flexible, effective overall martial art. It’s a common fact that most real-life fights end up on the ground. Most aggressors will typically be of a larger stature and rely on their physical size, strength, and reach of punches and kicks to intimidate and overwhelm their opponents. These factors can be largely neutralized if a fight is brought to the ground, and most fighters, from street bullies to even many other traditionally trained martial artists, will be at a loss in this situation.

CRJSG offers training in principles of balance/counterbalance, throws, chokes, submission holds, joint locks, and leveraging. These techniques rely more on proper application than size or physical strength and are highly effective in rendering a would-be assailant incapacitated. This type of martial art is unique in that actual practice on a grappling partner that can resist and counter lends a reality of practice uncommon in other art styles. Since joint locks, chokes, and submission holds, rather than punches, kicks, or other strikes are utilized, the ability to practice at full speed and power further facilitates useful feedback and realism in training. Carefully supervised training and grappling serve to help ensure students stay safe and learn proper form and technique.

Due to the nature of training, class sizes are limited and participation in CRJSG is granted on an individual basis.
